The operating systemThe operating system is the interface between the user's computer with the computer hardware. Understanding the operating system in general is a managing all the resources contained in the computer system and provides a set of services to the user to facilitate the use and utilization of computer systems. Network operating system or computer operating system that is used as a server in a computer network is almost similar to the stand alone computer operating systems, the difference is only in the network operating system, one computer to act as a server for the other machines. The operating system on the network as well as functions to manage its own resources to manage the resources that belong to other computers in the network. The operating system must be installed into the computer in order to function properly. In a network operating system installation, there are several fashion options provided in the form of text mode and graphics mode. Installing a text-based operating system is one of the computer's operating system installation mode to display text. Text mode is used if the computer hardware specs that will be installed has a lower specification. Text-based installation method will speed up the installation process even with a less interesting than the graphics mode (GUI). Methods GUI based operating system installation, has a graphical display of the more interesting and easier installation process that is often chosen by the user of the operating system. With the development of computer hardware makes better speed factor is not an obstacle in the process of installation. Computer operating systems have experienced rapid growth both for stand alone or network. There are many computer operating systems that can be used in either a stand-alone computer or a network of them isMicrosoft Windows Series (Win 3.1, Win 9x, Win ME, Win 2000, Win XP, Win NT), Unix, San Solaris, Linux Series (Redhat, Debian, SUSE, Mandrake, Knoppix), Mac, and others. Each operating system has its advantages and disadvantages so that the necessary analysis to choose which operating system as needed.
